Saturday, April 18th at 5:30 pm
The final film from legendary Chinese director Wu Tianming (The King of Masks), charts the life and trials of You Tianming, a young suona apprentice (a very expressive reed instrument) who then forms his own troupe at a time when the tradition of suona music is fading in Chinese society. As a man, he faces the painful reality that his chosen calling is no longer in tune with a modern, urbanized China.  The Chinese-American Museum of Chicago is proud to co-present two screenings.
